  • • A simple weekly checklist
  • • A pilot summary report for your school

Pilot Mission

The goal is simple: students learn how plants grow, how to care for them, and how living things capture CO2. The win is when they can repeat the process at home.

  1. 01 Seed: Students build a mini-grow setup from recycled materials. A window ledge becomes a nano-farm.
  2. 02 Learn: The app explains what should happen next (sprout → leaves → growth), with clear, low-noise guidance.
  3. 03 Grow: Students can run the same process at home and teach parents what to do.
    The student becomes the teacher.

What participation looks like

The school commits to

  • • One staff member as pilot lead
  • • A small indoor grow space (ledge/shelf)
  • • 10 minutes setup + short weekly check-in
  • • Ensuring plant photos contain no people
  • • Handling parent communication/consent if your policy requires it

Neuracorn provides

  • • A simple grow plan (beginner-proof)
  • • GrowBox, compost, and guides to create a grow setup.
  • • Support by email
  • • A pilot summary report for your school
  • • Data retention + deletion controls for the pilot

FAQ

01 Do children need a phone for the pilot?

No. The pilot uses a teacher-operated device. You can optionally project the growth guidance onto the classroom whiteboard.

02 Does this conflict with efforts to reduce screen time?

The app is intentionally low-stimulation: no alerts, no streaks, no dopamine loops. It’s a tool you open briefly to check what the plant needs or to submit a plant photo.

03 Safeguarding: can this identify or track children?

No. There are no student accounts. The pilot is run by a staff member on a school device. We instruct schools to take plant-only photos (no faces, no children, no identifying items). There are no chat/social features and no advertising or tracking.

04 What data is stored and where?

Identity

Pilot usage is stored under an anonymous identifier. We do not store student names, emails, or phone numbers.

Location

Location is used only to validate that plant growth matches local climate conditions. For schools, we recommend coarse precision (e.g. rounded coordinates) rather than exact positioning.

Photo data

Photos are processed to extract plant/scene signals (noise/edges/entropy/color counts + a hash). Example payload below.

Data location

Pilot data is stored on EU infrastructure (e.g. Frankfurt). Access is restricted to the pilot team for support and analysis.

Retention & deletion

Pilot data is kept only for the duration of the pilot and the pilot report. After the pilot ends, we delete the pilot dataset within an agreed timeframe (typically 30 days) unless the school explicitly asks us to retain it longer.

05 Is the data shared or sold?

No. We do not sell data. We do not share plant photos. Pilot data is used only for running the pilot, supporting the school, and producing the pilot summary report.

06 Our school has no garden and we’re not expert growers

Perfect. The pilot is designed for beginners. A window ledge is enough to start, and we provide a simple grow plan and support.

07 Can we review your DPIA / DPA / policy documents?

Yes. We can provide pilot documentation on request (data handling summary, retention, and security notes). Email pilot@neuracorn.com.

Quick decision checklist

This pilot is a fit if

  • • You can spare ~20 minutes per week for a class activity
  • • You have any indoor light (window ledge is enough)
  • • You want a practical science/environment activity
  • • You prefer low-screen, real-world learning

Our goal

  • • Pupils and teachers get benefit from the pilot.
  • • We hone the process and the outcome.
  • • We leave the shcool with something repeatable.
  • • Implement that same loop for everyone else.
